Parol Lighting Ceremony Opens the Simbang Gabi in Guam


17 December 2024, Guam - The Philippine Consulate General in Agana, Guam participated in a Parol Lighting Ceremony during the first day of the Simbang Gabi at St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church in Guam on 16 December 2024.

 

During the event, Consul General Rosario P. Lemque highlighted in her remarks the importance of the parol lantern for Filipinos during the Christmas season. She said, “The Philippine Consulate General is honored to share the Capiz parols, which now grace the walls of this church. Soon, these parols will light up the space, their radiance reflects the warmth and unity that bind us as a Filipino community during this Christmas season. As we celebrate this season of joy and love, let us continue to support one another and strive for a brighter and more meaningful year ahead.” 

 

Consul General Lemque also conveyed her appreciation to St. Anthony Church, through the leadership of its Parish Priest, Fr. Mike Crisostomo, for allowing the Consulate to once again be part of this year’s Simbang Gabi through the Parol Lighting Ceremony of its Capiz parols.

 

 


The first Simbang Gabi was officiated by Archbishop Ryan Jimenez together with Filipino priests Fr. Ron Pangan and Fr. William Mamangun. It was attended by more than 400 parishioners composed of Filipino and local residents and members of the business community and Filipino associations in Guam. 

 

Archbishop Ryan Jimenez was the main celebrant of the first Simbang Gabi in St. Anthony joined by Filipino priests, Fr. Ron Pangan and Fr. William Mamangun. END
