17 December 2024, Guam - The Philippine Consulate General in Agana, Guam (Agana PCG) successfully organized “Munting Paskong Handog: A Christmas Concert” featuring original Filipino Christmas songs, in coordination with Mr. Norman Babia, the Music Director of the Una Voce Choir and St. John’s School Orchestra, on 15 December 2024 at the Blessed DiegoLuis de San Vitores Church in Tumon, Guam
The event was attended by Guam local officials, headed by Governor Lourdes A. Leon Guerrero, notable members of the business community and representatives of various Filipino organizations on the island.
In her opening remarks, Consul General Rosario P. Lemque said, “This concert, Munting Paskong Handog: A Christmas Concert, is a special gift to our community during this joyous season. The title reflects the intimate and heartfelt nature of tonight’s gathering—a simple but meaningful celebration that honors the Filipino and Guamanian spirit of faith, family, and togetherness. Through this concert, we hope to share the warmth and traditions of a Filipino Christmas with our Guamanian friends and fellow Filipinos.
Consul General Lemque also conveyed her gratitude to the administration of Blessed Diego Luis de San Vitores, headed by its Administrator, Bishop-elect Romeo Convocar for granting the Consulate’s request to hold its Christmas Appreciation Concert in the church.
Bishop-elect Convocar shared his Christmas message to remind the audience of the true reason for the season: “Tonight, we celebrate Christmas with music, as we enjoy each other's company, but this celebration is meaningless, unless we recognize Jesus, the Christ, who is the very reason for our celebration.”
The Una Voce Choir and members of the St. Johns’ School Orchestra performed a mix of solemn Christmas music, including Mary, Did You Know?, O Holy Night, and Filipino Christmas songs, including Himig ng Pasko, Christmas in Our Hearts, and Munting Sanggol. The Concert concluded with a lively Filipino Christmas Medley, performed by the Una Voce choir alongside the personnel of Agana PCG. END
