19 November 2024, Guam – The Philippine Consulate General in Guam participated at the UP Alumni of Guam’s (UPAG) Pinoy Trivia Games 2024 which was held on 16 November 2024 at the Saint Paul Christian School Gymnasium.
In her remarks during the event, Consul General Rosario P. Lemque said, “Events like the Pinoy Trivia Games are vital for staying connected to our heritage, especially for those of us living far from the Philippines. Through fun and friendly competition, it sparks conversations about our roots and reminds us of the important aspects of our identity, even while we’re far from home. It’s an engaging way to celebrate our culture”.
Consul General Lemque also conveyed her appreciation to UPAG’s officers and members for their untiring efforts and dedication in making the event possible each year and for being one of the Consulate’s partners in promoting Philippine culture and heritage on Guam.
Among the three (3) teams from the Consulate, one (1) team won second place, surpassing twenty three (23) other teams from Filipino organizations as well as professional and business groups in Guam. The winning team was composed of Administrative Officer Ruby Fernandez, Finance Officer Ellen Morco, Property Officer Rommel Cuisia, Ms. Mayette Casaysayan, and Records Officer Rodolfo Hilot.
The contest categories include Philippine history, geography, current events, food, showbiz and Philippines-Guam relations.
The Pinoy Trivia Games is an annual event organized by UPAG to raise funds for its scholarship program, benefiting scholars at the University of Guam, Guam Community College and several high schools in the Philippines. END
